Metabolism and weight gain

The Thyroid gland governs your body’s metabolism. Therefore, if your thyroid levels are unnaturally low, you will have a hard time trying to lose weight and you will find yourself gaining weight easily. The weight gain or difficulty losing weight often associated with aging may be due to reduced levels of thyroid hormone, which can be corrected by hormone replacement therapy HRT.

Genetics and obesity

Science shows that genetics plays a role in obesity. Genes can directly cause obesity in disorders such as Bardet-Biedl syndrome and Prader-Willi syndrome.

However, genes do not always predict future health. Genes and behavior may both be needed for a person to be overweight. In some cases, multiple genes may increase one’s susceptibility for obesity, but they also require outside factors; such as poor nutritional behavior, or little physical activity.
We can early detect your genetic disposition to obesity by lab test, this early detection will help us create an action plan to avoid weight problems in the future. If you are already overweight, by combining nutriceutical and hormone therapy with orthomolecular therapy we can reprogram your genetic disposition to fight obesity.

Environment and Obesity

People may make decisions based on their environment or community. Communities, homes, and workplaces can all influence people's health decisions. Because of this influence, it is important to create a healthy environment for you, such as engaging in physical activities, changing your eating habits an getting a proper nutrition.

Here at The Wellington Institute we offer you nutritional counseling, acupuncture, and psychotherapy to help you cope and overcome your unhealthy behaviors.

· Dyslipidemia (for example, high total cholesterol or high levels of triglycerides)
